The Living in Space- LIS Initiative
“To confine our attention to terrestrial matters would be to limit the human spirit.” – Stephen Hawking
Space exploration is reaching new heights as we evolve from a multi-continental civilization to a multi-planetary one. This transition presents exciting challenges in Human Space Exploration, requiring advancements in technology, health, agriculture, and international cooperation. By tackling these issues, we pave the way for groundbreaking discoveries and inspire future generations to reach for the stars.
The “Living in Space”-LIS Initiative aims to ignite discussions and build capacity around the future of human habitation beyond Earth. We are dedicated to engaging a global audience through a series of interactive online sessions, workshops, and physical conferences. Additionally, we will utilize various science communication media—including podcasts, videos, and books—to provide valuable insights into the challenges we face in this exciting frontier. Together, we can explore the complexities of living in space and foster a collaborative approach to overcoming them.
We are committed to exploring essential needs for future developments in technical, operational, financial, institutional, safety, and international cooperation. Our goal is to identify the technologies necessary for advancing human habitation in space while enhancing public understanding. We will create engaging websites, publish books and articles, produce videos, and utilize social media. Our outreach will feature interviews with astronauts and leaders in space and business. By fostering dialogue and sharing knowledge, we aim to build a well-informed global community ready to tackle the challenges of living in space.

An Expanding Coalition of Key Organizations to Undertake this Effort
The hope is to build an international coalition of participating organization who work together on this effort that will continue to expand globally.
Please Note: At this level, co-sponsorship does not require a financial commitment; instead, it signifies an organization’s active participation in our research and educational initiatives. This collaboration is aimed at enhancing public understanding of the challenges we face in space exploration and habitation. By joining forces, co-sponsors will contribute valuable insights and expertise, helping to shape discussions and drive awareness around the critical issues of living in space. Together, we can foster a more informed and engaged community ready to explore the future of humanity among the stars!
